OlympusHermes

Personal backup & recovery

Terms of Service

Effective date: 9 October 2026 · Last updated: 9 October 2026

These terms describe authorized use of OlympusHermes, a personal backup and recovery utility operated by Flason Nguyen. Please read them before authorizing the utility or using its backup features. Questions may be sent to flasonnguyen@gmail.com.

1. Purpose and availability

OlympusHermes prepares selected personal assistant data for recovery, encrypts it locally and stores the encrypted repository in an authorized Google Drive account. Access to the utility is limited to the operator and people the operator expressly authorizes. This website provides information; it does not offer public account registration or a paid storage service.

2. Authorization and permitted use

Use the utility only with accounts, systems and data you own or are authorized to manage. Google authorization must be given by the account owner or an authorized representative. Do not use the utility to access another person's data without permission, distribute malicious content, bypass access controls or violate applicable law or third-party rights.

3. Your responsibilities

Keep account access, OAuth credentials and the backup recovery password secure. Keep an independent copy of the recovery password and test recovery periodically. Losing the password can make encrypted backups unrecoverable. You are responsible for selecting appropriate backup contents, available storage, account permissions and any required consent from people whose data is included.

4. Google Drive and other services

The Drive connection requests drive.file access to files the application creates or that the account explicitly grants to it. Backup availability depends on Google Drive, the host server and other software or services involved. Their own terms, limits and availability apply. OlympusHermes is independently operated and is not endorsed by Google or by the developers of Hermes Agent, Restic or rclone.

5. Privacy and backup retention

The Privacy policy describes the information used, encryption, sharing, retention and deletion controls. Retention may remove older snapshots, and retained snapshots may contain data deleted from the live system. Revoking Google authorization stops future access but does not automatically delete existing backups.

6. Reliability and recovery limits

The utility is provided as available, without a guarantee of uninterrupted operation, complete backups or successful recovery in every situation. Failures can result from storage limits, expired authorization, network outages, software defects or lost credentials. Keep another suitable copy of essential data. These terms do not exclude rights or obligations that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.

7. Ending use and requesting deletion

You may stop using the utility, disable its scheduled backups and revoke Google access through your Google Account connections. Contact the operator for help deleting repository data or local prepared copies. Stopping use alone does not delete stored data; Drive Trash and other independently configured backups may need separate handling.

8. Changes and contact

The operator may update the utility or these terms. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Review the current terms before further authorizing or using the utility. For questions or to end an authorized arrangement, contact flasonnguyen@gmail.com.
